Unmotivated students. Unsure graduates. Us.
So after stumbling upon this community, I think I fit in here pretty well. I'm a 23 y/o graduate student in Applied Math. I graduated in 2003 with a BS in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. I wrote a senior thesis. I got an undergraduate research award. I joined the BS/MS program my senior year since I was already working on some research with my advisor. Now I'm in my 4th semester of my graduate program. I have everything done except my thesis. I have a seat in a doctoral program for Scientific Computing on hold for me. And honestly I could care less about any of this.
I've been a teaching assistant a bunch of times and I might get a tutoring job, but other than that I'm stuck. I still live with my parents and the constant nagging about the thesis is getting out of hand. And yes I do have an advisor and a topic, so those aren't the problems. I've considering being a teacher, but the pay is unreasonably low.
So I'm confused and conflicted and unsure of what to do. But i'm glad that I'm not the only one.
